I've somehow very quickly accumulated a lot of books recently. However the majority were cheap as they were picked up in charity shops, car boot sales and amazon bargain buys. Before it got too out of hand I've decided to show you what I've got.

001. The Handmaids Tale - Margaret Atwood
A tale about a woman called Offred who has only one function: to breed. She recalls her old life of love, family, a job and access to the news which has now all been taken away.

002. Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami
Toru Watanabe recalls his first love Naoko. He is transported back almost twenty years to his student days, adrift in uneasy friendships, casual sex, passion, loss and desire. To a time when a woman called Midori came into his life and he had to choose between the future and the past.

003. Gerald's Game - Stephen King (my second edition)
A husband and wife game, but Jessie doesn't want to play. Lying there spreadeagled and handcuffed she feels humiliated and angry. She kicks out and aims to hit him where it hurts but he isn't meant to die, leaving Jessie alone and helpless in a lakeside holiday cabin. Miles away from anywhere and alone except for the voices in her head.

004. Carrie - Stephen King (my second and third edition)
Carrie White has a gift of telekinesis. And to be invited to prom by Tommy Ross is a dream come true for Carrie. But events will take a macabre turn as she is forced to exercise her terrible gift on the town that mocks and loathes her.

005. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - Stephen King
Trisha has only veered a little way of the path. But in her panic she takes a turning that leads into the tangled undergrowth, deeper in the woods. At first it's bugs and midges and then comes the hunger. For comfort she listens to broadcasts of the baseball games and her hero Tom Gordon on her walkman. As darkness falls, Trisha struggles for survival and a way out and she realises that she is not alone.

006. Salem's Lot - Stephen King
Two terrified people still share the secrets of Salem's Lot. One is an 11year old boy who never speaks but his eyes betray the horror he has witnessed. The other is a man plagued by nightmares, a man who knows that he and the boy must return to Salem's Lot for a final confrontation with the evil that lives on in the town.

007. Dreamcatcher - Stephen King
In Derry, four young boys once stood together and did something brave, something that changed them in ways they hardly understand. A quarter of a century later, the boys are men, they get together once a year to go hunting. This time a man comes in their camp lost, disoriented and muttering about lights in the sky. Before long the friends are plunged into remarkable events as they struggle with a creature from another world.

008. The Dark Tower (Volumes 1 -5) - Stephen King
About the last 'gunslinger' called Roland of Gilead. He is a haunting figure, a loner, on a spellbinding journey into good and evil, in a desolate world.

009. Pet Sematary - Stephen King
The far-horizoned. rolling hills and meadows of Maine seemed a world away from Chicago. Behind the house and away from the road, there was a carefully cleared path up into the woods. This was where children had processed with solemn innocence of the young, taking with them their dear departed pets for burial. A sad place maybe but safe. Not a place to sweep into your dreams, to wake you, shouting, sweating, slippery with fead and foreboding.

010. Rose Madder - Stephen King (my second edition)
Roused by a single drop of blood, Rosie Daniels wakes up to the realisation that her husband is going to kill her. So she takes flight. Alone in a strange city, Rosie begins to build a new life, she finds an odd junk shop painting called 'Rose Madder' which wants her as much as she wants it.
