I have a massive thing for buying books if you can tell. However a lot of books are purchased in deals or I get them from the charity shop. Today I thought I would share with you some books I purchased from both the local charity shop and 'The Works' who always have 3 for £5 deals.

001. Lasting Damage - Sophie Hannah
'It's 1.15am. Connie Bowskill should be asleep. Instead, she's logging on to a property website in search of a particular house: 11 Bentley Grove, Cambridge. She knows it's for sale; there's an estate agents board in the front garden.

Soon Connie is clicking on the 'virtual tour' button, keen to see the inside of 11 Bently grove and put her mind at rest once and for all. She finds herself looking at a scene from a nightmare; in the living room, in the middle of the carpet, there's a woman lying face down in a huge pool of blood. In shock, Connie wakes hr husband Kit. But when Kit sits down at the computer to take a look, he sees no dead body, only a pristine beige carpet in a perfectly ordinary room....'

002. A Man Called Ove - Fredrik Backman
'At first sight Ove is almost certainly the grumpiest man you will ever meet. He thinks himself surrounded by idiots -  joggers, neighbours who can't reverse a trailer properly and shop assistants who talk in code.

But isn't it rare, these days, to find such old - fashioned clarity of belief and deed? Such unswerving conviction about what the world should be, and a lifelong dedication to making it just so?

In the end, you will see, there is something about Ove that is quite irresistible...'

003. Unspeakable - Abbie Rushton
'Megan doesn't speak.

She hasn't in months.

Pushing away the people she cares about is just a small price to pay. Because there are things locked inside Megan's head - things that are screaming to be heard - that she cannot, must not, let out.

Then Jasmine starts at school: bubbly, beautiful, talkative Jasmine. And for some reasons Megan can't quite understand, life starts to look a bit brighter.

Megan would love to speak again, and it seems like Jasmine might be the answer. But if she finds her voice, will she lose everything else?'

004. The Lemon Grove - Helen Walsh
'He is wearing a pair of plain blue swimming shorts, otherwise, he is naked before her. He is muscular, but graceful with it, balletic. He is shockingly pretty.....

Each summer, Jenn and her husband Greg return to Deia, on Mallorca's dramatic west coast. This year the arrival of Emma, Jenn's stepdaughter, and her new boyfriend Nathan threatens to upset their equilibrium. Beautiful and reckless, Nathan stirs something unexpected in Jenn. As she is increasingly seduced by Nathan's youth and the promise of passion, the line between desire and obsession begins to blur.'

005. The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold
'Susie Salmon was fourteen years old when she was murdered by a man from her neighbourhood. Now in heaven, she can have whatever she wishes for - except the one thing she wants the most: to be back with the people she loved on earth. Susie watches from the above as her suburban family is torn apart by grief; as her friends grow up, fall in love, and do all the things she never had the chance to do herself. In time, Susie will realise that even in death, life is not quite out of reach....'
