WHAT I READ IN DECEMBER

31.12.15

Hey guys,

So this month I finally got my reading mojo back and actually read some books. Yay.

Forensics The Anatomy Of Crime - Val McDermid
This book is a kind of Forensics round up of all techniques that are used in solving a crime backed up with appropriate cases which I love. I do wish that I would have read this while doing my degree, however it's a great book for anyone who wants to know more about Forensics.

5/5

Wake - Amanda Hocking
Wake is a nice easy read for me personally and although some of the characters mainly the main character Gemma annoyed me to no end it was still captivating enough for me to carry on reading it. I feel like this book ends where you have to know what will happen next.

3/5

Talking With Serial Killers - Christopher Berry-Dee
After reading the Forensics books I really wanted to carry on with true crime books. A lot only focus on one crime whereas I much prefer to read about a few. This book was great, it had pictures and all the stories were fascinating to read.

5/5

Burnt Tongues - Chuck Palahniuk
Burnt Tongues is a collection of stories written by authors from the internet and personally picked by Chuck Palahniuk. From this basis I knew the stories would be something I enjoy and apart from the odd one or two out of around 20 I enjoyed them all. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars

5/5

Peter Pan - J.M Barrie
I've had this book on my shelf for a long time and decided I should read it. I don't mind the movie and so I thought I would enjoy the book but there was just something about it that made me feel meh about it. With all classics sometimes the writing can put me off and I think that along with how the characters were portrayed especially Peter and Wendy and maybe even Mr Darling it didn't quite do it for me.

                                              4/5

The Tooth - Shirley Jackson
Along with Peter Pan I have also had this book on my shelf for a long time and it's not even that long of a book. The tooth has a few short stories written by Shirley Jackson I enjoyed them very much, it really gives a feel of Shirley's writing which I like.

4/5

Lullaby - Amanda Hocking
This is the second book to Wake and follows mainly Gemma's sister who I liked way more than Gemma herself. I felt like this was an okay book and a slight improvement from the first. However it still got three stars.
3/5

The Ocean At The End Of The Lane - Neil Gaiman
I always forger that Neil Gaiman writes in a way that reminds you of dreams. He does really have a way with words and this book was wonderful to read. I found myself feeling a bit sad that it had finished. I really loved the characters and the story, however I think the ending was a bit meh but it was still a nice ending.

4/5

Ice Twins - S.K Tremayne
I loved this book, it had a creepy element from the first page which I really liked. I just love reading psychological thrillers as much as watching them and this book seriously kept me guessing what was happening. This would have gotten 5 stars but there was elements especially as nearing the ending which I wasn't a massive fan off but it did tie up the story in a sense.

4/5

Doctor Who Time Lord Fairy Tales - Justin Richards
I can't remember when I first saw this beautiful book but I know it was online and then after that I knew I needed it in my life. HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THIS BOOK. This book are fairytales such as 'Cinderella' and 'Red Riding Hood' but gives it a twist of time lord elements such as Weeping Angels and Sonic Screwdrivers. It has 15 short stories and all are beautiful with lovely illustrations by David Wardle.

5/5

Clockwork Angel - Cassandra Clare
I loved this book purely because from the get go there was something happening. I found that the characters weren't annoying and I enjoyed the different personalities that they all possessed. The reason this got 4 stars was because I kind of guessed who the bad guy was quite early but it didn't fully ruin the book and I have actually just ordered the second book because I am so interested.

4/5

A Feast For Crows - George R.R. Martin
This book took me an age to read just because well firstly I went into a major book slump for months and two these books are so hefty and I find myself reading this chapter by chapter and also along side other books. I AM IN LOVE WITH THE SERIES. I honestly love the world building and the characters all bring something. At times it can get confusing but thankfully at the front are maps and at the back are appendix to all the houses and who belongs where and with who. A great book to end 2015.
