JUNE WRAP UP

5.7.15

Hey guys,

So June for me, I just flew through books and it felt so good. In total I finished a massive total of 14 books. Which is excessive but it's safe to say that my reading slump is totally over.

Big Little Lies - Liane Moriarty
I have a book review about this book which I will link here. I really enjoyed this book and far more than the husbands secret. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars.

The Rosie Effect - Graeme Simsion
I actually started this book way back near Christmas when I got it as a gift but stopped reading it and only just finished it this month. I loved the first book in this series 'The Rosie Project' however this book just didn't give me the same feeling and I didn't enjoy it as much. I gave this 3 out of 5 stars.

Daughter - Jane Shemilt
I love books that have mystery, crime and keep you on your toes. I've seen some meh reviews for this but for me, I loved it!. The ending, even though it didn't tie everything into a perfect end it still left you guessing for yourself. I found I didn't want to put this down and gave it a 5 out of 5 stars.

The Boy That Never Was - Karen Perry
This was another book that was similar to Daughter. The ending wasn't what I expected either and I loved it. It had me gripped from the start. I gave this a 4 out of 5 stars.

Before I Go To Sleep - SJ Watson
I have been meaning to read this for ages and I'm so glad I did!. I loved the movie and the book wasn't a disappointment. Again another crime, thriller, mystery book. I loved the thrill of what was happening and gave this 4 out of 5 stars.

The Silent Sister - Diane Chamberlin
This book had everything! From secrets, mystery, laughter and I also cried a smudge. Right from the start I loved this book and what was happening. I really fell in love with all the characters and now need to read more Diane Chamberlin books. This book got a 4 out of 5 stars from me.

The Turin Shroud Secret - Sam Christer
You know when you think you know what a book is going to be about but then it turns out to be complete opposite. That was this book but it wasn't good. I thought it would just be a serial killer novel with a small religious twist. Nope this turned into a whole religious debate with so much religious texts and I was not keen at all. I gave this 2 out of 5 stars.

The Slap - Christos Tsiolkas
This had good premise. This good have been a good book. This book was bad. It has a great name. But the thing that this book is 'centred' on is barely touched upon. All the characters and yes I mean all are awful, whiney, stuck up and honestly I felt like slapping them all myself. There is so much racist slurs and all anyone seems to do is have affairs and insult everyone else. Gah. It was awful. I gave this 1 out of 5 stars.

Insomnia - Stephen King
I have a book review here. I love Stephen King and he is slowly becoming one of my favourite authors. This book had me on edge all the way through and I really felt for the main characters. I have given this book a 5 out go 5 stars.

Vanishing Acts - Jodi Picoult
I actually liked this book. I liked the whole storyline, some of it was a bit cringe but it's a nice summer read when you just want to pick up a book at the seaside or by the pool. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Vampire Knight -  Matsuri Hino
Wasn't terrible but for me personally I didn't love it. Im not a fan of vampires really so I wasn't too into it in the first place. Was nice to have a break of intense reading. I gave this 3 out of 4 stars.

Among The Dead - Kevin Wignall
It was okay. It had good potential but it just turned into a needy paranoid mess of a book. I enjoyed it but couldn't appreciate any of the characters and there was good buildup but I just felt it fell flat at the end. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

One Hundred Names - Cecelia Ahern
My first thought was why had I not read a Cecelia Ahern book before!. I loved this. I loved the characters, I loved the storyline, I loved the ending and it made me laugh and cry. Such a great summer read also. One of my favourites of the month, I gave this 5 out of 5 stars.

In The Woods - Tana French
This book was going okay for me. Some of the characters where annoying but I liked the story it was telling. Yet one of the biggest section of the story wasn't even given an ending and that is so frustrating for me! WHY. Why would you do that! I needed to know what happened to those kids. I gave this 3 out of 5 stars.

What books have you read in June?
